The effluent gas enters the absorption fluid, e.g. a non-polar oil, in the absorption chamber. The particles of solid and the liq. droplets are wetted by and coalesce with the fluid at the surface. A hydrostatic pressure is exerted, forming froth and bubbles in the absorption fluid and the resulting mixt. rushes like a torrent, into the impact or contact chamber. The wetting of the particulates continues and the mixt. is pushed on into a second contact chamber. The gas, now cleaned, is drawn off and sediment falls to the base of the absorption chamber, to be removed.Also claimed is the appts. for carrying out the above process.
