CONSTITUTION:The nonlinear optical material is formed of the 3-(2-thienyl)-1-(4- methylkphenyl)propene-3-on expressed by formula I. The 3-(2-thienyl)-1-(4- methylphenyl)propene-3-on is formed by bringing 4-methylbenzaldehyde and 2-acetylthiophene into dehydration condensation reaction in the presence of a basic catalyst or acidic catalyst.
