A system for filling orders, such as prescriptions forpatients, comprising a device for holding packages. Each packagehas the same type of contents being held in a predeterminedLocation by the holding device. Each package has an identitywhich defines the contents therein. The holding device has aplurality of predetermined locations corresponding to a pluralityof different types of contents. Additionally, the system iscomprised of a device for supplying packages to the holdingdevice. Also, there is a device for picking a package from theholding device that is identified in the order for the purpose offilling the order, or from the supplying device for the purposeof restocking the holding device. The picking device is incommunication with the holding device and supplying device. In apreferred embodiment, the contents of each package is a singledosage of medicine.
