A relatively insensitive component of explosive ammunition consisting of a casing containing a multicomposition explosive charge in which the innermost layer is a composite explosive consisting of a filled polyurethane or polyester polymeric matrix in which the filler contains more than 40 % by weight of organic nitro explosive and in which the peripheral layer is a pyrotechnic composition of the class of composite solid propellants, consisting of a filled polyurethane or polyester polymeric matrix in which the filler contains at least one inorganic oxidiser and less than 10 % by weight of organic nitro explosives.
