PURPOSE:To obtain the overlay stainless clad steel having excellent high-temp. performance and excellent peeling resistance by using the low-alloy steel for high-temp. and high-pressure service of a specific compsn. consisting of C, Mn, Cr, Mo, B, Ti, Nb, and Fe as a base metal. CONSTITUTION:The low-alloy steel for high-temp. and high-pressure service is obtd. by incorporating 0.05 to 0.30wt.% C, 0.2 to 1.5% Mn, 0.8 to 5.5% Cr, 0.5 to 1.5% Mo, and 0.0005 to 0.010% B into this steel, further, incorporating one or 2 kinds of 0.010 to 0.040% Ti and 0.010 to 0.040% Nb therein, further, incorporating 0.10 to 0.35% V at need therein, and constituting the balance of Fe and unavoidable impurities. A stainless steel is subjected to overlay welding with this steel as a base metal. The finer austenite crystal grain sizes on the stainless steel side are obtd. in the boundary layer of this welding and the diffusion and transfer of C from the base metal to the stainless steel are prohibited. The overlay stainless clad steel having the excellent high-temp. performance of the base metal and the excellent hydrogen embrittlement peeling resistance is obtd. in this way.
