A process for dyeing keratinous fibers involves applying to the fibers, at least one compound of formula IMAGE wherein R1 represents hydrogen, alkyl, acetyl, benzoyl, phenyl or carboxylalkyl and R2 and R3 represent hydrogen, alkyl, hydroxyl, halogen, nitro, alkyl phenyl, phenyl or alkoxy, and an aminopyrimidine of the formula IMAGE wherein R5 represents hydrogen, hydroxyl or IMAGE represents hydroxyl or IMAGE R7 represents H or NH2, R8 represents IMAGE and R9 and R10 represent hydrogen, alkyl, (CH2)p-Z wherein p is 1 to 4 and Z represents OH, halogen, NH2, NHR' or NHR'R'' wherein R' and R'' represent alkyl or together form a heterocycle, with the proviso that one of R5 to R8 represents NH2.
