The method for helping with the optimisation of the query (10) within the window (24) of a screen consists in forming a tree (26) representative of the query design scheme, in depicting the tree on a screen (25), in executing a syntactic analysis of the query in order to form a syntactic graph, in comparing the elements of the tree with those of the graph and in completing the tree with elements contained only in the graph.
