The method comprises (i) applying a second metal plate (2) against an adhesive face of a film (1); (ii) applying a first metal plate (3) against the face of the second metal plate (2) that is not stuck to the film (1), this first plate (3) having dimensions equal to those of the film and protruding laterally along the whole of its periphery with respect to the second metal plate (2); (iii) the adhesive face of the film (1) being brought into contact with the protruding part of the first plate (3); and a (iv) flange (4) that tightly takes up the peripheral profile of the second plate being formed by stamping the protruding part of the first plate. USE/ADVANTAGE - The method is used for the fabrication of single piece assemblies for the production of identification plates with relief characters. The method allows the prodn. of thinner plates than conventional methods, whilst ensuring that the assembly is maintained in perfect cohesion by the film of reflecting material.
