Repetitive nucleotide sequence, sought in a genomic library, having homologies with insertion sequences of the IS 5 family and capable of detecting and characterising an infection by phytopathogenic Xanthomonas bacteria, the said sequence not hybridising phytopathogenic bacteria other than Xanthomonas in the Pseudomonadaceae family.
