The present relates to a method for inspecting a weld bead, in particular on a motor-vehicle suspension sphere and a device for implementing this method. This method is characterised in that it consists in illuminating the bead at a given point with a laser plane, in observing, by means of a camera, the intersection of the aforementioned laser plane with the bead, corresponding to a spot (4) of elongate shape on the image given by the camera, in determining the median line (5) of the spot (4) thus obtained, in verifying that this median line (5) lies inside a template (6) and/or that it exhibits neither interruption nor horizontal discontinuity, which indicates that the weld is correct at the point in question; and in repeating the proceeding steps as many times as necessary along the bead.
