Armour element comprising a system of particles made of hard material, and method of making this armour element

The invention relates to an armour element consisting of a system of particles made of a first material which is very hard, such as a ceramic, embedded in a second material which is more ductile, such as steel. The armour element is obtained by making a mould containing the particles of hard material, by preheating the mould, by pouring the second material into the mould and by removing the element from the mould after it has cooled.
