The screw thread armoring element (1) has multiple successive helical windings (5), whose radial inner side is adapted in the form of a screw thread. A constricted helical winding (10) consists of two helical winding sections, which include one or multiple successive secants. The secants constrict the constricted helical winding radially inwards. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an installation method for a screw with a screw thread armoring element; (2) a component with a cylindrical insertion surface; (3) a winding spindle for manufacturing a screw thread armoring element from a wire; and (4) a manufacturing method for a screw thread armoring element.
