Method for fixing a sheet of glass (3) in an opening (9) in particular in a frame (1) of a lift pylon (P), which method is noteworthy for the following stages, which are all carried out from the outside of the pylon (P), both with regards to assembly and to dismantling: - first placing an elastomeric section (10) in position around the opening (9), this section being closed on itself and comprising a body (15) with two longitudinal recesses (11, 12) defined by elastically deformable lips (13, 14) and formed so that they face in opposite directions, on either side of the said body (15), one of the recesses, the external one (12), being designed to fit over the peripheral edge (16) of the opening (9) in the frame (1), while the other, internal, recess (11) is designed to accommodate, again by fitting over it, the peripheral edge of the glass (3) to be fixed, - placing the glass (3) in position by applying it against the outer peripheral lip (13) of the internal recess (11), - lifting the said outer lip (13) of the internal recess (11) and advancing progressively around the periphery, so that the edge of the glass (3) engages therein simultaneously following the advancing movement until the entire perimeter has been completed.
