A process for the preparation of a homeopathic-type solution for treating or preventing an infectious disease or involving the dysfunction of a gene, in an individual of a given species and homeopathic-type solutions thus obtained. The method comprises the steps of: i) dissolving in a pharmaceutically acceptable solvent, in a proportion corresponding to approximately one nanomole per 10 ml of solvent, a single-stranded nucleic acid of at least equal to 15 nucleotides, and of substantially similar sequence to that of a polynucleotide chosen from among a part of the genomic material of the infectious agent, the transcription product of said part or, if appropriate, the reverse transcription product of said part, when said disease to be treated or prevented is of the infectious type, or among a part of the genetic material of said species, comprising a part of the nucleotide sequence related to said dysfunction or a part of the transcription product of said sequence related to the dysfunction, when said disease to be treated or prevented involves the dysfunction of a gene, BR/ ii) boosting said solution by r succussion, BR/ iii) diluting the solution obtained in step ii) by a factor of about 10-1 to about 10 -3 in an acceptable solvent, then boosting said diluted solution by succussion, and BR/ iv) repeat step iii) until a solution diluted to at least about 10-1 and dynamized is obtained.
