The subject of the invention is a process for the enzymatic determination of creatinine, which consists in determining the amount of ammonium ion released by creatinine, characterized in that the assay is carried out in the presence of a hydroxamic acid or of one of its salts. The invention also relates to a method for eliminating errors in the enzymatic assay of the ammonium ion comprising introducing into the reaction medium with the sample a hydroxamic acid or a salt thereof. The subject of the invention is also a set of reagents for the enzymatic determination of creatinine, which comprises: BR/ - glutamate dehydrogenase BR/ - creatinine iminohydrolase BR/ - NADPH BR/ - an alpha-ketoglutaric acid salt BR/ - a dilution solution BR/ - and a hydroxamic acid or one of its salts.
