Surgical wire fixing used in blood vessel tying or other suturing operations

The fixing, designed to retain the two ends of a surgical wire passed through two layers of tissue to hold them in contact, consists of a body (12) with two sets of slots, each with gripping surfaces (8,9) to engage with one end of the wire. The body has lateral inlets (14) for the wire ends, and the inner slots are spiral to prevent spontaneous disengagement of the wires. The fixing is elongated in shape and made from a deformable material which can be wholly or partially resorbable.
