A retaining latch (14) of a connector (A') displaces a contact (19, 19c, 19d) when incompletely mate (figure 6) so that it does not connect with a corresponding contact (D") of a counterpart (B'). The connector may have two such contacts, each of which is formed with an arcuate portion (19c) for making contact (at 19c3, figure 3) and an extension (19d) for engagement by the latch (14). IMAGE
