ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR ENABLING PREVENTIONOF INCOMPLETE COUPLINGAbstract of the DisclosureIn an electrical connector, a male connector body anda female connector body are coupled and locked together toeffect the mechanical connection of electrical terminalshoused in the respective connector bodies. To preventincomplete coupling of the relevant connector bodies, a pathis formed in the male connector body in such a manner as tocorrespond to the shape and dimension of a bracket forfixing the electrical connector to the body of an automotivevehicle or components thereof, and a rib is provided on thefemale connector body in such a manner as to traverse thepath. This rib blocks a part of the path in the event thatthe two connector bodies are improperly coupled with eachother, thus making it possible to detect incompletecoupling. An electrical connector of another type hasanother configuration for the same purpose. In this secondtype of electrical connector, a support finger and adetection finger are provided on a bracket, and a path isformed in the male connector body in such a manner as tocorrespond to the shape and dimension of the support finger,a rib being provided on the rearward portion of the femaleconnector body. This rib is adapted to bear against thedetection finger when the relevant two connector bodies areimproperly coupled with each other, and this serves toprevent entry of the support finger into the path, thusenabling detection of incomplete coupling.- 9 -
