PURPOSE: To control a pressing action of an impression roller on a flexible plate cylinder using a gear train for synchronizing the rotation of the impression roller with the rotation of the flexible plate cylinder of a rotary stencil printing press and to obtain a stencil printed matter at a fixed density just after the start of printing. ;CONSTITUTION: In a rotary stencil printing press that is so constructed that an impression roller can be rotated in synchronism with the rotation of a plate cylinder through a gear train including a gear 22 disposed coaxially to a plate cylinder 10, a gear 24 that is rotatably held by an arm member 26 shaking about a center axis of the plate cylinder to engage with the gear 22, and a gear 28 that is held by an arm member 18 shaking about a shaking axis deviated in parallel from the center axis of the plate cylinder so as to rotate together with the impression roller to engage with the gear 24, a braking device for braking the gear 28 or 24 is provided. In addition, at the start of printing, a braking action of the braking device is temporarily enhanced. It is more preferable that a means for restricting the increase of a distance between the axis of the gear 24 and the axis of the gear 28 over the predetermined engaging axis-to-axis distance thereof is provided.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
