DATA COMPRESSING APPARATUS USING LEMPEL-ZIV TYPE ALGORITHM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing system having a compressing and decompressor apparatus based on the Lempel-Ziv type algorithm. ;SOLUTION: The processing system includes a cyclic history CAM device that receives and stores one data element or over and an arrangement section having a coder that discriminates whether or not a received data element has already been stored in the history CAM device and it is an object of compression or not. In the case that a received data element is in matching with at least one stored data element, a PS logic section discriminates whether or not a character string is in existence. The coding section identifies an address of data in the character string in matching with the stored data element and a length of the character string. The compressing apparatus identifies whether or not a data element is compressed and a length of coded data in pluralities of existence data length categories and generates a compression token consisting of addresses. The compressing apparatus uses a specific hardware mount in the PS logic section.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
