CAPTION MASKING CIRCUIT AND TELEVISION RECEIVER PROVIDED WITH THE CAPTION MASKING CIRCUIT

PURPOSE: To attain learning by masking a caption when a video signal with caption is reproduced so as to output only an audio signal thereby allowing the operator to hear the audio signal. ;CONSTITUTION: A masking position setting switch 1c of an operation section 1 is depressed and the operator moves optionally a masking position of a masking position setting means 6 on a screen with an UP switch 1a and a DOWN switch 1b, a masking signal generating means 7 generates a masking signal and mixed with the video signal with caption by a mixer circuit 10 to mask the caption. Furthermore, a masking period setting switch 1d of the operation section 1 is depressed, and the operator sets optionally a masking period of a masking period setting means 5 by the UP switch 1a and the DOWN switch 1b, and the masking signal generating means 7 generates a masking signal, the mixer circuit 10 mixes the masking signal with the video signal with caption to mask the caption. Furthermore, a character denoting a masking state is fed to the masking signal in the mixer circuit 10 from a character generator 8 in the case of masking.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
