PURPOSE: To execute complete slag off without releasing harmful gases, such as gaseous H2 S and gaseous SO2 , generated at the time when the slag of a blast furnace is subjected to a water granulation treatment. CONSTITUTION: This treating equipment has a primary cooling column 21 which cools the waste gases 6G contg. the gaseous H2 S and gaseous SO2 generated by the water granulation treatment without generating steam by bringing primary cooling water 21W having a high temp. and these waste gases into counter current contact with each other, a secondary cooling column 22 which cools the primarily cooled waste gases 6G1 down to about the outdoor air temp. by supplying secondary cooling water 22W of a low temp. to the waste gases and bringing both into counter current contact with each other, a wet process electrostatic precipitator 7B which removes the fine water drops suspended in the secondarily cooled waste gases 6G2 and an induced draft fan 26 which feeds the gaseous substance 6G3 in a satd. state after being subjected to dust precipitation back to the blast furnace. The waste gases are cooled without generating the steam from the cooling water in the respective cooling columns and is returned to the blast furnace. The gaseous H2 S and gaseous SO2 are subjected to the slag-off by a desulfurizing material in the blast furnace, by which the release of the harmful gases to the atm. is prevented.
