PURPOSE: To provide a method and device for control the edge drop of a metallic strip capable of improving the edge drop to the maximum without generating any breakage or edge crack of the metallic strip. ;CONSTITUTION: An edge drop control device 12 of the metallic strip in a tandem cold rolling mill is provided with a flatness detecting means 10 to detect the flatness of the metallic strip 11, a profile detecting means 9 to detect the profile of the metallic strip 11, and a shape profile control means 8 to change the shape and the profile of the metallic strip 11. A control means to operate the control quantity of the shape profile control means in response to the output of the flatness detecting means and the profile detecting means, and drive the shape profile control means so as the flatness of the metallic strip and the edge drop may satisfy the preset range is included.
