PURPOSE: To provide an insulated wire wound power resistor by means of a direct method that turns off its own resistance circuit to prevent smoke or fire from occurring, instead of an indirect method such as an external circuit, etc., which has a possibility of breaking down in the event of an abnormal heating of the resistor. ;CONSTITUTION: An insulated wire wound power resistor comprises a temperature fuse 4 connected to the middle of a resistance part (a resistor 2 and a resistor 3) of the power resistor, so that its own resistance circuit is turned off by the melting of the temperature fuse 4 in the event of abnormal heating of the power resistor. Also, alarm means (an alarm fuse 5 and an alarm unit 8) which operates electrically when the temperature fuse 4 melts is connected in parallel to the temperature fuse 4 to notify the abnormal heating of the power resistor and the melting of the temperature fuse 4.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
