SHIELD EXCAVATOR FOR UNDERGROUND JOINTING AND METHOD FOR UNDERGROUND JOINTING OF TUNNEL

PURPOSE: To freeze the natural ground effectively by furnishing a cutter head supporting ring, a front trunk to which a skin plate is secured, and a driving means which moves the front trunk ahead. ;CONSTITUTION: When a shield excavating machine 1 reaches a specified standby position, the excavating works of a tunnel are interrupted, and the front trunk 4 and rear trunk 5 are pin coupled together by a rod. Then an articulate jack 8 is elongated, and when the front trunk 4 moves ahead relative to a cutter head supporting ring 3, the stopper part 4b of the front trunk 4 runs against the stopper part 3b of the ring 3, and the front trunk 4 stops moving forward, and a skin plate 7 secured to the front trunk 4 is moved ahead. Then the front trunk 4 of an opposing excavating machine 1 is alike moved ahead so that the tips of the two plates 7, 7 are contacted with each other, and the natural ground part in proximity to the jointing position is frozen so as to prevent intrusion of earth and sand from the natural ground. The amount of frozen soil is reduced by eliminating substantially the skin plate gap of the joint shields with each other.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
