MESSER SHIELD EXCAVATOR FOR CONSTRUCTING AN UNDERGROUND TUNNEL BY USING DIVIDED MESSER PLATES AND A METHOD FOR EXCAVATING THE UNDERGROUND TUNNEL THEREBY

PURPOSE: A messer shield excavator using divided messer plates and an underground tunnel excavation method thereby are provided to reduce the construction period by adjusting the gap between supports and connecting messer plates in the straight tunnel range. CONSTITUTION: A messer plate of a messer shield excavator is composed of an end messer plate(210) installed and driven into the bending part without expanding the width, and a connecting messer plate(220) combined with the rear end of the end messer plate by a coupler. The construction period of the underground tunnel is decreased by excavating the underground tunnel with the curved portion without extending the excavation breadth unnecessarily, and the construction cost is reduced. The installation gap between the supports is adjusted efficiently by combining the end messer plate with the connecting messer plate.
