PURPOSE: To process voice information, which are encoded by different compression/expansion encoding rules, with the same constitution by providing a compression/expansion encoding rule designating means which designates whether a compression/expansion encoding rule is necessary or not and a conversion form for each of combinations of lines or means. ;CONSTITUTION: A compression/expansion encoding rule conversion designating means 15 is provided which designates whether a compression/expansion encoding rule is necessary or not and a conversion form for each of connection communications between an analog incoming line circuit 12, an encoding signal generation means 14, and a digital line 23 on the input side and an analog outgoing line circuit 13 and a digital line 24 on the output side. At the time of execution of the connection to which conversion of the compression/ expansion encoding rule is designated, a compression/expansion encoding rule conversion means 16 converts the compression/expansion encoding rule of inputted/outputted encoding signal information in accordance with the conversion form designated by the designating means 15. Thus, the compression/expansion encoding rule for encoding of the analog voice inputted/outputted to analog lines 21 and 22 and that for encoding of audible signal sounds and the PB signal stored in the encoding signal generation means 14 can be unified into one prescribed rule.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
