PURPOSE: To obtain the subject base comprising an amorphous agar and a cellulose derivative and capable of imparting excellent handleability, controlling property of medicine release, binding (durable) property and swelling resistance due to saliva, etc. ;CONSTITUTION: This base contains (A) an amorphous agar (e.g. readily water-soluble powdery agar in which dissolution ratio when retained for 10min in water kept to 70°C at a concentration of 1.5% is ≥50%, and especially, dissolution ratio when retained at 80°C for 10min in water kept to 80°C at a concentration of 1.5% is 100% and having dissolution limit due to boiling exceeding 3% under ordinary pressure or powdery agar obtained by grinding crystalline agar until becoming amorphous by a grinder) and (B) a cellulose derivative (e.g. hydroxypropyl(methyl)cellulose or carboxymethyl-cellulose sodium salt).;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
