METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DETERMINING PROBABILITY OF EVENT, AND PROBABILISTIC INFERENCE

PURPOSE: To easily and qualitatively set the occurrence probability of an event by selecting a combination of events which are easy to occur out of pairs of true/false combinations of generated events by a user and determining setting conditions of efficiency, and finding probability that meet the determined conditions. CONSTITUTION: An inference mechanism 13 infers, for example, a disease according to information provided by the user. This inference mechanism 13 consists of a probability setting part 20 where the probability used for probabilistic inference is set, a probabilistic inference part 21, an event true/false combination pair quantity calculation part 22, an event true/false combination pair generation part 23, a user conversation part 24, an inequality setting part 25, and an inequality solution generation part 26. In this constitution, the event true/false combination pair generation part 23 generates true/false pairs of events whose number corresponds to the likelihood of the probability and the user selects the combination of events which are easy to occur for the generated pairs of true/false combinations of the events to determine the setting conditions of the probability, thereby finding the probability meeting the determined conditions.
