PURPOSE: To make a turning radius of an edge tip of cutting tool and a radius of curvature of the edge tip of the cutting tool coincide with each other accurately in a short time without contact with the edge tip of the cutting tool on a machine by moving radius edge tip of the cutting tool by a cutting tool edge tip position adjusting mechanism by a radius error from the edge tip turning radius and the radius of curvature of the edge tip of the cutting tool. ;CONSTITUTION: A coordinate value Z1 in Z axis direction of a slide table for a cutting tool on the side where an edge tip of the cutting tool T is opposite to a work and in a position of full contact with a center line B is obtained. A coordinate value Z2 in Z axis direction of the slide table for the cutting tool on the side where the edge tip of the cutting tool is opposite to a column and in a position of full contact with the center line B is obtained. A edge tip turning radius R₁ of the cutting tool is obtained in R₁=(Z1-Z2)/2 by these coordinate values Z1, Z2. Then, a fixing bolt 23 is loosened when this edge tip turning radius R₁ and known a radius of curvature R₂ of edge tip do not coincide with each other and a tool holder 20 is slid by a tool edge tip position adjusting mechanism 60 to the direction where a radium error ΔR=R₁-R₂ reduces.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
