HERQULINE B AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE: To obtain a new herquline B, having inhibiting actions on blood platelet agglutination and useful for treating thromboembolism, inflammation, ischemic cardiopathy, etc. ;CONSTITUTION: This herquline B is expressed by the formula. The compound is obtained by inoculating a microorganism capable of producing the herquline B, e.g. Penicillium herquei Fg-372 strain (FERM P-14760) into a culture medium containing a nutrient source, culturing the microorganism under aerobic conditions, then extracting the resultant cultured product with an organic solvent, treating the prepared extract by a chromatography and collecting the herquline B. Physicochemical properties of the herquline B of the formula: properties: light-yellow powder; molecular weight: 315.2060; molecular formula: C₁₉H₂₆N₂O₂; melting point: 109-113°C; specific rotatory power: [α]D=-85.2° (c=0.3, methanol); solubility: soluble in methanol and chloroform and sparingly soluble in water; color reaction: positive to the Dragendorff reagent and iodine; distinction among acidic, neutral and basic: basic substance.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
