PURPOSE: To obtain a raw material powder for the production of WC-base cemented carbide consisting of superfine particles without containing coarse WC powder and to improve breaking strength of a WC-base cemented carbide by using balls made of a WC-base cemented carbide formed of particles of WC having specified or lower average particle size and max. particle size. ;CONSTITUTION: The ball for mixing and pulverizing a raw material powder for the production of WC-base cemented carbide is formed of WC-base cemented carbide having ≤0.7μm average particle size of WC and ≤2.0μm max. particle size of WC. Since the particle size of WC is small and WC particles are fine compared with conventional ball for mixing and pulverizing, hardness thereof s high. Therefore, when a raw material powder for production of WC-base cemented carbide is mixed and pulverized, and ball is hardly worn and mixing of worn powder of ball into the raw material powder is hardly caused. Moreover, even if the ball is worn and worn powder is mixed into the raw material powder, the particle size of the worn powder of ball is small because the particle size of the original WC in the ball is small.
