PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the measurement precision even of extremely small injection quantities of fuel by maintaining a constant return speed of a measuring piston and delaying changeovers of a solenoid valve. ;SOLUTION: While a measuring chamber 3 is exhausted again to a reference volume BV, the return speed of a measuring piston 5 is held practically constant, and the travel of the measuring piston 5 to be made in the changeover delay time of an electrically controlled valve 12 is estimated in consideration for the changeover delay obtained from the closing-motion characteristic curve of the valve 12, after which a predetermined changeover threshold, before the initial position of the measuring piston 5, triggers a changeover signal output to the solenoid valve 12 to close a pressure relief line 11 again by the solenoid valve 12.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
