PURPOSE:To provide a composite material excellent in specific rigidity and specific strength useful for a wide range of structural materials by reinforcing a matrix with a molding base material composed of filaments which are oriented in directions within a specified range of inclinations to an external loading axis and combined in multiaxis directions in three dimensions. CONSTITUTION:A reinforced plastic in combination of carbon fibers and an epoxy resin, for example, is used as filaments 1, and they are oriented in 4 axis-directions bonding the opposite apexes of a cube. The molding base material is impregnated with an epoxy resin 2, for example, and the resin is cured. In the composition, the rigidity and strength of the material can be controlled by the orientation angles of the filaments 1. However, in order to demonstrate the high energy absorption of the material, the filaments 1 must be oriented in three dimensional inclinations within a range of 15-60 deg. in all axial directions to an external loading axis 5. The material, it is preferable that the filaments 1 have 7 axes in consideration of the isotropic properties of and 4 axes to increase the volume density of the molding base material.
