PURPOSE:To easily delete a pin hole included in a picture by specifying an isolated area smaller than the size of the pin hole as a pin hole area and filling the pin hole area in a color of surrounding isolated areas. CONSTITUTION:Black pin holes PH1-PH3 take place in a white area in a read binary picture and white pin holes PH4, PH5 take place in a black area. The operator designates an area PR in which the pin hole delete processing is implemented on a block copy picture displayed on a color monitor. Moreover, the size of the pin hole designated by the operator is designated by, e.g. dimensions Wx, Wy. Then the isolated area extracted as the pin hole area is filled in a color of surrounding isolated areas. Thus, the pin hole delete processing is easily implemented in a short period of time.
