PURPOSE: To perform visual recognition and identification of the surface configuration of the edge of a super abrasion grain tool readily and accurately and to improve the efficiency and the reliability of analysis operation by applying electroless deposition on a bond holding the super abrasion grain, selectively performing masking, and definitely identifying the surface configurations of the edge of the tool and the tip of the bond. ;CONSTITUTION: The selective masking on a bond by electroless deposition is not especially limited when the masking layer having the clear, uniform color tone, which can be identified from super adrasive grain, is applied on the surface part of the bond. For example, a super-adrasive-grain tool, which has undergone disconnection, polishing, cutting, drilling or cutting test, is dipped into electroless deposition bath, wherein various kinds of metal that can undergo electroless plating such as Co, Ni, Cu, Ag, Sn, Pt and Au. The layer is chemically deposited on the surface of the bond by the action of reducing agent or self-catalyst. Thus, the analysis of the surface configuration of the edge by visual observation becomes easy, and the analysis data over the entire surface-adrasive-grain tool such as the design of the configuration of the specifications of the super adrasive grain and the bond can be quickly obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
