PURPOSE:To keep the temperature of the front plate from rising and free a heater of the danger of causing bodily burns and the like in promoting its safety by providing a screen between the front plate and the heating element so as to form between the front plate and the screen a passageway for cooling air that does not undergo exchange of heat with the heating element. CONSTITUTION:Air drawn in through a cool air intake port 4 is warmed by a heating element 2 provided in a passageway 7a for air for heat exchange and discharged through a warm air discharge port 5 to effect indoor heating. On the other hand, air drawn in through an air inlet 8 flows through a cooling- air passageway 7b, which is separated from the passageway 7a for air for heat exchange leading from the cool air intake port 4 to the heating element 2, and cools a front plate 3 and a screen 6 as it flows to an air outlet 9 and is discharged therethrough. Air which is free from exchange of heat with the heating element 2 flows through the cooling-air passageway 7b so that the cooling of the front plate 3 is accelerated and rise of temperature is prevented.
