PURPOSE:To provide an impulse treating apparatus and a thermal treating apparatus which facilitate the positioning of the focus of an impulse wave (or intense ultrasonic wave) on a subject to enable the irradiation of the subject with the impulse wave (or intense ultrasonic wave) based on the positioning. CONSTITUTION:It is so arranged to have a means 2 to obtain a tomographic image of a subject based on a signal transmitted or received with an ultrasonic imaging probe, an impulse wave generation means 3 which is made up of at least two sets of vibrator units to generate an impulse wave at a specified focus, a display means to display a tomographic image and a marker indicating the position of the focus and a marker moving means 1 to move the marker shown on the display means to a desired position. Moreover. a vibrator drive means 6 is provided to move the focus of the impulse wave electronically to a desired position by changing delay information applied to the vibrator units based on positional information of the marker moved by the marker moving means.
