PURPOSE:To attain miniaturization and light weight by using a detection sensor arranged corresponding to a reel turn table turning detection section so as to detect both the operating mode state and the reel turn table turning thereby applying stable and highly accurate control to a tape recorder mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A width Wr with respect to the reel turn table turning detection section 49 is to be formed desirably as Ws=1/2, Wp/Ws Wr, where Ws is the width of a reference mode detection section 43, Wa is the width of a rewind mode detection section 45, a cure mode detection section 46, and a forward mode detection section 47 respectively, and the width Wr is equal to the width Ws or over and narrower than the width Wa. Thus, one set of the detector sensor 49 is used so as to detect both the operating mode position and the reel turn table turning in the tape recorder and the stable and highly accurate control is attained thereby decreasing number of components necessarily.
