PURPOSE: To provide a coating film which efficiently absorbs light in a wide wavelength region from visible rays to far infrared rays by forming an oxide film by thermal spraying method. ;CONSTITUTION: An absorbing and radiating body for light in 0.23100μm wavelength region is produced by thermal spraying of triiron tetroxide on a metal or ceramic base body to form a film. The triiron tetroxide used for thermal spraying is preferably iron oxide having an inverse spinel structure and ferrimagnetism. The iron oxide of this kind is generally obtd. from magnetite ore and is obtd. by burning iron wires in air, effecting the reaction of burnt iron with water vapor, or granulating or sintering fine particles of hematite and reducing the particles. As for the thermal spraying method, any of gas thermal spraying, arc spraying, plasma spraying and laser spraying may be used, and plasma spraying is preferable because a dense film is formed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
