Feed additive compsn. for milk cows contains: (A) 30-60 (pref. 30-40) wt. % (n-3) fatty acid (I) source; (B) 7-20 wt. % carbohydrate source; (C) 3-6 wt. % pulverised hay; (D) 30-50 wt. % emulsifier; and (E) 0.05-0.15 wt. % antioxidant. Pref., (A) consists of linseed, perilla seed or fish meal, esp. a mixt. of linseed and perilla seed in ratio 100:2-10 opt. additionally contg. 5-10 wt % fish meal. (B) is a mixt. of wheat, barley and oats. (D) consists of casein, soybean, formaldehyde, salt, methanol and water. (E) is santoguin. Fat: protein ratio is 1:1. USE/ADVANTAGE - Milk obtd. from cows fed with the compsn., specifically having (m-6):(n-3) fatty acid ratio 2:] and contg. eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docoashexaenoic acid (DHA) and docosapentaenoic acid (DPA), is esp. useful for promoting growth, intellectual function and sight function in children. The milk is also useful as nutrient for the population in general, and for correcting nutritional imbalance. In the above emulsified compsn., (I) pass through the rumen without chemical conversion (e.g. by fermentation) and are well resorbed from the small intestine.
