PURPOSE: To conduct measurement on plural quality items such as appearance quality and component quality at every grain for the grains such as rice or the like, and conduct quality evaluation combining the plural quality items so as to select the grains at every grain according to the quality evaluation. ;CONSTITUTION: Grains subjected to a predetermined pretreatment in a pretreatment portion 1 are fed grain by grain to a spectral detection portion 3 by a sample feeding portion 2. Light is radiated on a sample grain in the spectral detection portion 3 so as to detect a signal on the quality of the grain, and the signal is processed in a processing portion 6 so as to determine evaluation values on plural kinds of quality items.
