ELECTRODE BODY INSERTION METHOD FOR SQUARE BATTERY AND ELECTRODE BODY INSERTION DEVICE

PURPOSE:To prevent damage of an electrode body and automate insertion by inserting a layered electrode body into an outer can while it is formed with at least one pair of rollers. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical electrode body 16 is inserted between the rows of rollers 21 arranged both sides which are rotatively driven from a guide hole 25 of an inlet guide 24. The electrode body 16 inserted is interposed between both side roller 21 rows and sent downward. Since the distance between the rollers 21 is gradually narrowed, the electrode body 16 is made flat in order. When the electrode body 16 is transferred to a specified position, the rollers stop rotation, a detecting means 30 detects the position of a positive electrode terminal 17 of the electrode body 16, then the rollers resume rotation. When the position is off-centered, the rollers correct the position. The electrode body 16 is flattened to almost the similar width to the short side width of an outer can 11, and inserted into the outer can 11 through a guide hole 28 of an output guide 27. Damage of the electrode body 16 is prevented, and an insertion process is automated.
