METHOD FOR IMPROVING PH OF RAW WATER OF WATER SUPPLY AND DEVICE FOR USE THEREIN

PURPOSE: To improve contact efficiency of free carbonic acid and make a device compact by a method wherein raw water for water supply containing free carbonic acid is passed through a shell-beads packed tower and at the same time gas is passed therethrough to agitate shell beads and water to neutralize free carbonic acid. ;CONSTITUTION: There are provided a shell-beads packed tower 1, air blowing pipe 6, air compressor 5, and flowmeter 3. Underground water is fed to the upper part of the tower 1 from an underground water storage tank to allow the underground water to flow down through a shell-beads packed layer 2. At the same time, air is introduced from the air blowing pipe 6 disposed below the layer 2 bf the tower 1 to pass it upward through the layer 2. By this method, the layer 2 and an upper water layer 7 are agitated. By measuring the pressure in front and in the rear of the layer 2 and in the layer, and by measuring flow rate of the air by means of a flowmeter 4, each flow rate control valve is controlled.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
