PURPOSE: To provide a surface covered cemented carbide cutting tool exhibiting superior abrasion resistance in a long time in the case of high speed cutting. ;CONSTITUTION: A surface covered cemented carbide cutting tool is so formed that a hard overlayer comprising the bottom layer which consists of a single layer or multiple layer of two or more out of titanium carbide, titanium nitride, and titanium carbide nitride having a mean layer thickness of 0.5-5μm, an intermediate layer which consists of composite nitride of Ti and Al having the mean layer thickness of 0.5-5μm, and the top layer which consists of composite oxide nitride of Ti and Al having a mean layer thickness of 0.5-5μm, is formed on the surface of a WC radical cemented carbide base body.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
