PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain high-purity cyanuric acid from an isocyanuric acid/ammonia gas mixture by a simple method by cooling and decomposing the mixture. ;SOLUTION: Firstly, urea is decomposed in a fluidized bed at 300-480°C to form isocyanuric acid to form an isocyanuric acid/ammonia gas mixture (preferably isocyanuric acid concentration is 3-30 vol.%). After the separation of the mixture from a decomposition apparatus, the mixture is partially or wholly is passed through a separator (preferably a cyclone type hot gas filter and an apparatus having a filter equipped with a filter insertion mouth at the center). The objective cyanuric acid is separated and isolated at 200-300°C while simultaneously adding a cooling gas, if necessary. Further the unreacted gas mixture is recycled or heated to 300-480°C and treated in a melamine contacting furnace to form melamine or is used as a starting compound for another method starting from isocyanuric acid.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
