Three point impactor for acetabulary components with anterior covering ofthe total hip prosthesis.

Instrument to be used for surgical procedures, for the fitting ofacetabulary components of total hip prostheses. The instrument comprises aball, which connects to one type of hip socket with three special supportingpoints: this has anterior covering or 'lip'. The rod is bent to remainuseable in all possible surgical access routes to the hip and can be fittedwith a removable directing instrument in order to make positioning in anangle of 45 degrees possible. The long axis of the rod is perpendicular tothe ball of the instrument. The handgrip can be used with existing slidingdirectional instruments (45 degrees or others). The entire instrument ismanufactured from high quality non-corrosive metal that can enduresterilisation techniques under temperatures up to 140 degrees, andfurthermore is sufficiently hard in order to maintain its shape duringpositioning and impact from a hammer strike. The connections between the balland the handle obviously have to comply with the same standards.
