The invention concerns a drilling rig 1 which has a main part 2 inside which there is arranged at least part of the energy supply arrangement of the rig 1. Connected to the main part 2 there are at least three bases 3 which can be moved by lifting equipment 5 and by means of which the drilling rig 1 can be supported on the seabed, and a drilling unit 4 which can be moved by means of a first transporting device 6, for carrying out drilling in a drilling situation substantially outside the main part 2. The drilling rig 1 also has at least one unit for living quarters 7 for the crew of the rig 1, rescue boats 8a for emergency evacuation of the crew, and preferably a helicopter landing area 8b for air transport. To improve the safety and use of the drilling rig 1, the said living quarters 7 are arranged to be at least partially movable, being moved considerably away from the drilling unit 4 during drilling, preferably in essentially the opposite direction s to the direction of movement of the drilling unit 4.
