During theinterval between neutron pulses capture gamma radiation ismeasured in at least four, non-overlapping, contiguoustime intervals. A background radiation measurement is alsomade. The background corrected count rate measurementsmade in the at least four time intervals are iterativelyfitted to exponential curves using a least squares techni-que to simultaneously derive borehole component and forma-tion component of the thermal neutron decay time.
