An isolated D2D3 polypeptide from a Staphylococcus aureus Fbp processes for its preparation and its use in the prevention of adhesion of bacteria, in particular gram positive bacteria, to extracellular matrix proteins on in-dwelling devices or to extracellular matrix proteins in wounds and also oral pathogens, to extracellular matrix proteins on surfaces in the oral cavity, in particular tooth surfaces.
